Meet Dr. Erik

Dr. Erik Uuksulainen (OOK-soo-lay-nen) loves to 10804981_10204072931881195_955871549_nhelp people function at their best.

He was first introduced to chiropractic following a high school sports injury that was not improving with conventional methods of treatment.

In a relatively short period of time, through chiropractic care, his symptoms abated without reoccurrence allowing him to return to sport and function at an even higher level. Today, he is teaching others in his clinic how to do the same.

Says Dr. Erik, “I always knew I wanted to be in the health care field in order to help people. I also knew that I wanted to be ‘hands on’, following in their care to watch and share in their improvement like I had done for me. For me, that meant becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic.”

Dr. Erik completed, with honors, his Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics and then earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from the same institution shortly thereafter.

Dr. Erik gained invaluable clinical and diagnostic experience while beginning his chiropractic career working in Manhattan’s Upper West Side facing Central Park. While there, his abilities helped him transform and improve hundreds of lives. His work has impacted and produced positive results for scores of celebrities, musicians, singers, dancers, actors, directors, Broadway performers, executives and athletes.

Currently, Dr. Erik has given up his lengthy city commute in order to focus his attention on his local community of Poughkeepsie, where he lives with his wife and SPCA-adopted dog, Rosie.

“There is nothing I enjoy more than the work I do. I love being a chiropractor and I love healing people. Now I get to have a local impact on my community and that is a special thing.”

When he is not treating patients, Dr. Erik enjoys spending his time in the Adirondacks. He is also a running, cycling, cross-country ski and ice hockey enthusiast.
